Captivating

Kim at The Upward Call writes an interesting review on John & Staci Eldredge's book for women, titled Captivating. I highly recommend reading the blog post, as well as the linked articles. I'll leave it at that.

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28.

How is anything that we as bloggers, authors, teachers, preachers etc. going to measure up against the Holy Scriptures themselves? I am constantly wondering why do we write at all anymore?

The very nature of that post in and of itself seems to speak of judgement and condemnation of a brother in Christ, thus wreaking with hypocrisy. I agree and encourage us to heed Kim's warning to be diligent in our selection of books. As stated on Kim's post, neither she nor I know the Eldredge's personally, and I can only beg that MY each and every word, spoken and written, is forgiven by God if it doesn't do him justice.

Haven't we all written letters or spoken words that were formed early on our walks with God?

Again I can't speak for them, and only hope that God continues to grow them in their faith. The truth of Phillipians 4:8 is ringing in my ears and I am again reminded to go to the source.

At the same time, I entrust that in having read and passed this book onto someone else previously, that if it was a mistake, please forgive me God. YOU will have your chosen ones and I pray that nothing I do will stand in your way.

PS - isn't that the joy of being a blogger as opposed to a non-published writer...we have the ability to correct, discuss and be challenged and it is not "set in stone!" (sorry about my posts that often resemble a small book!!! :) )
